Description

Nestled in the natural forest which surrounds the grounds of Poggio Antico lies the Madre house, after which our first Super Tuscan was named. A blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is the perfect balance between power and sophistication.

The Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon were vinified and then aged separately in 500L French Tonneaux for 18 monts. The varieties were blended prior to bottling, and then further aged another 4 months to achieve coherence and harmony. The 2014 Madre is very quaffable. A lighter vintage, this expression has lots of strawberry, ripe raspberries, pomegranate and goji berry flavors. A versatile wine, this is the perfect accompaniment for grilled asparagus, salmon, spring vegetables, and goat cheese.
